The Hub for Environmentally-Focused Careers
The Kaunalewa Job Training Program is the hub for environmentally-focused careers. Empowering individuals with education and training to influence the greater Kauai community positively at little to no cost to the student. Through these training initiatives, sustainability awareness is sparked, contributing to the community's long-term well-being.
Program Highlights.
Our courses focus on practical skills and nationally recognized certifications that you can apply in real-life situations. You'll be well-prepared to respond to emergencies or safely handle hazardous materials:
HAZWOPER Site Worker Certification: Gain expertise in handling hazardous waste materials and ensuring the safety of our environment.
OSHA-10 Certification (Construction): Understand the importance of workplace safety and learn how to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification: Be prepared to respond confidently in emergencies and provide life-saving assistance when it matters most.
EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Paint (RRP - Lead Paint): Be knowledgeable in the health effects of lead-based paint, how to test for lead-based paint, how to work using lead-safe work practices if lead is present, and how to educate you others on the hazards of lead based paint.
Asbestos Operations and Maintenance: Learn how to work around asbestos or presumed asbestos containing material to work safely and avoid creating an asbestos exposure event.
Mold and Muck & Gut: Be ready to respond to hurricane or flood damaged buildings safely. Also learn how to safely remove mold from drywall, ceiling tiles and hard surfaces such as concrete and lumber.
Eligibility:
At least 18 years old by program start
Prioritization:
Unemployed, underemployed, and high-need individuals
Residents of West Kauai
NO degree requirements
People impacted by the criminal justice system ARE eligible.
Not only does this program provide free job training and certification for good-paying, reliable, and sustainable jobs that improve their communities and environment, but it also helps connect students and graduates with job opportunities and other services.

Cohort 2 - Three Week
Date & Times: October 7th - October 23rd at 7:45AM - 4:30PM
Location: Hoakeolapono Warehouse, Wailua
No night or weekend classes. Tuition is $0.
